Hello, I am Rhiannon Lloyd and I run Shersca Genealogy from the beautiful county of Somerset.
I am a qualified Genealogist and hold an MSc (Distinction) in Genealogical, Palaeographic and Heraldic Studies from the University of Strathclyde. I am a member of the Register of Qualified Genealogists (RQG) and an Associate of the Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives (AGRA). I previously took the Pharos Family History Skills and Strategies (Intermediate) course, which I completed in 2017.
My interest in Genealogy turned a sad event into a voyage of discovery. It was after my Grandmother’s death that I realised how little I really knew about her family. There were a few family stories, but I didn’t know where my roots really lay. After a little bit of research, I started to discover that my ancestors had very deep roots in the South-West of England. I even managed to solve a family mystery!
Ever since then, I have been delving into both sides of my family history, being taken from Somerset and Dorset, to Wales, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire. I have discovered many interesting things about my ancestors and have been lucky enough to find some family heirlooms, including photos, letters and even a tapestry!
It surprises many people that I initially trained as a Musician and gained my BMus in 2010 and my MA in Perfomance Studies in 2011, both from Cardiff University. I also have a DipABRSM from the ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music). I am a member of a local band, where I sing and play all manner of woodwind instruments.
